If you are unable to connect to the printer, it indicates the offline status. The printer may go offline due to some network conditions although it is not expected. The printer will not print if it is offline. To resolve this issue follow the below given steps
Update the printer firmware as HP regularly releases printer updates. This may help in resolving the issue. If the problem persists continue to the next step.
If you have a USB printer connection, you need not try the below steps and continue to other steps. Creating a manal connection is a better option to communicte directly. You can print a network configuration Report or Wireless Test Report from your printer.
Print the report from the network settings if your printer has a control panel with display other wise printe the report using the buttons. To know about the information on how to print a report for your printer model search the HP website for networ configuratin report
Check the network status for your network connection type on the report printout. Continue with the steps if status is connected otherwise this is the reason for your to be in offline status. Find the IP Address, Subnet mask, Default Gateway for your active connection type. Find the URL on the report and enter the URL on your internet browser from a computer that is connected in your network. Use a different search engine if your webpage is blank.
Open the section with your network type(wired/wireless) after clicking the Network or Networking tab.
Click Manual IP. The IP address will be automatially entered if you see the button Sugges a Manual IP Address button. If the button is unavailable type the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway manually.
